Fancy Food Show 2019: 10 Keto Products You Have to Try

Print Friendly and PDF

Today was my first time ever attending the Fancy Food Show, which is put on by the Speciality Food Association. I had an absolute blast, and left feeling full (samples galore!), sore (walked over 10 miles while eating!), and incredibly pleased with my new keto finds. There's no doubt about it: it's a great time to be keto, and the number of products catering towards this audience seems to multiply by the day.

If you couldn't make it, I'm here to report back on:
  • 10 keto products you have to try
  • Honorable product mentions
  • The show itself

10 keto products you have to try

As a foodie and keto enthusiast, I love staying on top of the latest keto finds. Though my subscription to Keto Krate keeps me fresh on some of the latest keto snacks, it's mind-blowing to see just how many other offerings exist for keto-ers! These are the top 10 products I came across today, and they're in no particular order because it's too hard comparing apples to oranges (okay, butter to bacon keto style).

1. Foods Alive Onion Ring Clusters

The Foods Alive Onion Ring Clusters taste JUST like onion straws. In fact, their taste so closely resembles their greasy fried onion cousin that it's hard to believe these are even healthy. Yet they're USDA organic, non-GMO, gluten free, raw, organic and vegan. The ingredients are about as clean as it gets, with the key ingredients being onions, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, hulled hemp seeds, sesame seeds, nutritional yeast and chia protein powder. Each serving is only 4g total carbs, 2.5g net carbs and 60 calories. And just in case you eat the whole bag (trust me, you may not be able to stop yourself), there are 4 servings per bag, so just multiply the former facts by four. There's a reason they have a five-star review on their site and are sold out today!

2. Cali'flour Foods Italian Herb Cauliflower Thins

Cali'flour Foods' Italian Herb Cauliflower Thins are the keto cracker I've been missing my whole life. There are so many great keto dip possibilities given it's undeniable that sour cream, cream cheese, mayo and ranch are some of the best dip ingredients, and they happen to all fit perfectly on the keto diet. I've tried dunking just about everything in those dips, from other cracker substitutes to celery to endives. Goods news: my search is over. These are flavorful, sturdy and tasty with no dip too. Key ingredients include almond, egg whites, cauliflower and olive oil. One serving (six crackers) contains 5g protein and only 2g total carbs! Check out their site for more details.

3. 1 & Only Salad Dressings

If you know me, you know how much I love romaine. (Like, it's hard for me to have a good day during a romaine scare 😂.) Anyway, I typically use ranch and caesar dressings because they fit my macros best. But sometimes, they just feel really heavy. That's why I'm particularly excited about 1 & Only's salad dressing line. All of their dressings are low in sugar (or zero sugar like this greek dressing!) and have very few ingredients (some as low as two!). Check out their site!

4. Notty Foods Protein Chocolate

It can be hard for me to meet my protein goals sometimes because, well, I guess I get sick of my lean protein go-tos (think: chicken breasts and egg whites). That's why when I walked by Notty's booth, protein chocolate certainly caught my eye. It's called Notty because it "tastes naughty, but it's not!" Their candy has no added sugar, 3-4g net carbs and 9-11g protein. It's also non-GMO and made without soy, corn and gluten. They're sweetened with erythritol and stevia. Flavors include fluffernutter, peppermint bark, cold brew, lemonberry and salted almond. Tough choice, right!? Check out their online shop

5. Keto Pint Ice Cream

Ice cream is one of my favorite desserts, so I was particularly excited to try Keto Pint for the first time! They have several flavors: peanut butter brownie dough, mint chocolate chip, maple bacon, chocolate chunk, sea salt caramel swirl and butter coffee. The pints are sweetened with monk fruit, stevia and erythritol, have no added sugar, and are only 3g net carbs per serving. You can check them out on Instagram (@ketopint).

6. Swerve Baking Mixes

I've had my Swerve on for years: it's the primary sweetener in four of my most popular keto recipes (Glazed DonutsChocolate CupcakesCrustless Cheesecake and Edible Cookie Dough). Recently, however, Swerve expanded their product line to include several baking mixes, such as chocolate cake mix, vanilla cake mix, chocolate chip cookie mix and pancake & waffle mix. At the Fancy Food Show Swerve was sampling their chocolate cake, and let me tell you, it tastes good. I normally shy away from mixes because I love baking from scratch so much, but there are times that's difficult to do, such as when I'm traveling and want a keto treat or short on time. And I know not everyone loves baking as much as I do, so it's a great alternative! Check out their full product line.

7. Joyfull Bakery Everything Parmesan Crisps

I thought I'd tried using my Trader Joe's everything but the bagel seasoning on just about everything, that is until I came across Joyfull Bakery's Everything Parmesan Crisps. Everything season + parmesan = genius. The flavors mesh so well together, and it has a nice crunch unique from other cheese chips. They have no sugar, no trans-fat and no additives. I really want to try these as "croutons!" Check out their site.

8. Enlightened Dairy Free Pints

I'm well known among my family and friends for making pints of Enlightened disappear. When I first discovered the brand, I tried every pint I could. I became so loyal to a few flavors (peanut butter chocolate chip, butter pecan and vanilla), that when the dairy free line launched, I didn't even try them. So, thank goodness for the Fancy Food Show today because boy was I missing out! Their new flavor Monkey Business means business! It's banana, peanut butter and chocolate chip flavored. Other flavors in the new dairy-free line include chocolate peanut butter, ooey gooey cinnamon bun, triple shot espresso, chocolate almond macaron, candy bar crunch and cookies & mint. I also got to meet the CEO of Enlightened, Michael Shoretz, his sister and his mom and heard the incredibly sweet story of how he started developing the product in their family's kitchen using his sister as a taste tester. Check out their site.

9. Belvas Low Sugar Truffles

I am usually not a truffle fan, so I am so glad I stepped out of food narrow-mindedness and tried these truffles! Belvas absolutely nailed the cocoa and hazelnut combination. Their hazelnuts come from the Italian Piedmont area, and of course we all know Belgium's chocolate reputation. Not only that, but these truffles are organic, vegan, gluten free, fair trade and no sugar added. Check them out here!

10. Noosh Almond Protein Powder

So I'll admit I have yet to use this protein powder in my baking, but I'm excited enough about the product and its macros that I had to include it on my list. I've never used any type of almond protein powder, but I love that it's plant based, high in protein (21g) and low in fat (3g). It's also super convenient that they come in individual serving packs. Check them out here!

Honorable product mentions

I tried SO much food today, so even though these products may not have made my top 10 cut, they are definitely noteworthy keto finds.

Sunkin Seeds

Miracle Noodles

Legendary Foods Nut Butters

88 Acres Pumpkin Seed Butter

Elmhurst Milked Nuts

More on the show

In a nutshell, I'm a big fan of the Fancy Food Show! Prior to the show I wasn't exactly sure what to expect given I'm Expo West's #1 fan, but let me tell you, I am extremely impressed by the Fancy Food Show. It was organized, had an incredible variety of offerings and products, and it had a fun spunk to it. What do I mean by this? Well, the show's slogan is "you'll know when you taste it." Then I passed this sign:

 See what I mean? 😜

Location/Venue

The Winter Fancy Food Show 2019 was located in San Francisco at the Moscone Center. It was a great venue for the show, and it spanned multiple levels and rooms. I was able to cover all of the booths in one day (9:30am-5pm), but there's way more to the show than booths.

Other Show Highlights

The Fancy Food Show had several speakers on a wide variety of topics, from the business of speciality food to Food & Tech and disruptor panels. There was also a Maker Space to help speciality food businesses scale.

Though I primarily spent my time visiting booths, I did get a chance to visit the Food for Tomorrow section since it opened half an hour earlier than the booths.

I took a really cool quiz which labeled me as a "Wholesome Mind" Food ID type.

Pretty accurate, I suppose.

In this area were several impressive sustainable food companies, including Imperfect Produce, which sells quality produce that would otherwise go to waste because it does not meet supermarket cosmetic standards.

Post-Show

I made it home with a bag full of samples and tons of fun foodie memories!

Hope to see you next time, Fancy Food Show!
